Basketball Recap: Buena Takes a Loss

Buena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 51-33 bruising from the Flowing Wells Caballeros. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Caballeros are ranked 41st).

Despite the loss, Buena still got an impressive performance from London Richardson, who posted ten points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Buena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Nevaeh Urenda continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Flowing Wells, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Adonia Mendez, who earned six points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Buena's record is now 5-9. As for Flowing Wells, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

When Buena and Flowing Wells next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Buena will take on Nogales and their four-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Flowing Wells will try to stop Pueblo's six-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
