Softball Recap: Lake Norman Charter Find Success

After losing to Concord the last time they met, Lake Norman Charter decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Knights came out on top against the Spiders by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Morgan Gadd made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Kendall Ruffolo looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Silvy Schild, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ilyana Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Lake Norman Charter's record now sits at 4-8. As for Concord, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Norman Charter will challenge Northwest Cabarrus at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Concord, they will square off against West Rowan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Spiders surely won't give up without a fight.
