Basketball Recap: Carroll Starts Season with Win Against Madison-Grant

Carroll had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the Madison-Grant Argylls to the tune of 74-17. The Cougars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since November 5, 2024 (when they won 82-16).

Carroll's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jillian Salts, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 21 points and five rebounds. The last time Salts' field goal percentage was this high was back in November of 2024. Eliza Rinehart was another key player, going 5-for-6 en route to 12 points in addition to eight steals and five assists.

Carroll was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison-Grant only posted five.

Carroll and Madison-Grant will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Cougars will square off against rival Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. Meanwhile, Madison-Grant is set to take on their familiar foe Alexandria-Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
