Softball Recap: Casey County Victorious

Casey County hadn't done well against Mercer County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Rebels won by a run and slipped past the Titans 4-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Rebels as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Harmony Meece spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Forbes, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Emily Jeffries also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Casey County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercer County only managed six hits.

Casey County's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Mercer County, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-10.

Casey County has already played their next match (against Wayne County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mercer County, they will square off against West Jessamine at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
