Softball Recap: La Vernia Wins Going Away Against John F. Kennedy

La Vernia never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the John F. Kennedy Rockets. Considering the Bears have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lucy Schlachter was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryanna Farias, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Alexandria Burton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

La Vernia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive contests.

La Vernia's record is now 19-7. As for John F. Kennedy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

La Vernia didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 22-9 victory against Long Creek on the 12th. John F. Kennedy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
