Basketball Recap: Granite City Takes a Loss

Granite City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 57-38 fall against the Nokomis Redskins. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Redskins are ranked 147th).

Nokomis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalie Brownback, who went 6 of 15 en route to 16 points and four steals. Kinley Stolte was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Granite City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Nokomis, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.

Granite City has already played their next game (against Greenfield/Northwestern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Nokomis is taking a road trip to face off against Sangamon Valley/Tri-City at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
