Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Mules vs. Hamilton County Foxes

For the second straight game, Fairfield will face off against Hamilton County. The Mules will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Foxes at 4:30 p.m. Fairfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Hamilton County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Fairfield's victory against Hamilton County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mules had just enough and edged out the Foxes 6-4. The Mules haven't had any issues with the Foxes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Tallen Hixenbaugh was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Caleb King was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Jesse King was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Hamilton County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
