Baseball Game Preview: Burnet Bulldogs vs. Jarrell Cougars

The Burnet Bulldogs will take on the Jarrell Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jarrell took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Burnet, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Burnet got the win against Taylor by a conclusive 11-4. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Ducks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Cohen Jorpeland was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jarrell lost 9-1 to Taylor last Friday.

Jarrell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keagan Melendrez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base. Will Yoder also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Jarrell's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Burnet, their win bumped their record up to 8-14-1.

Burnet got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Jarrell by a conclusive 12-3 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
