Softball Recap: Dunkirk Marauders vs. Southwestern Trojans
Dunkirk was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 10-2 walloping at the hands of the Southwestern Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Dunkirk of the 4-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
For Southwestern's part, Madelyn Burnett made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Burnett has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Burnett was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

As for Southwestern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olean at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Olean will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
