Softball Recap: Flora Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Flora dropped their record down to 6-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces, falling 13-2. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Aces apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

As for Mt. Carmel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games.

For Mt. Carmel's part, Presley White spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. White has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evie Sellers, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lyla Keepes, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Flora will square off against Fairfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Carmel, they will take on Casey-Westfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Aces 3.8, the Warriors 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
