Volleyball Recap: Calabasas Comes Up Short

Calabasas was the 3-0 winner over Oaks Christian when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Calabasas fell 3-1 to Oaks Christian on Wednesday.

While Calabasas ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 21 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22.

Oaks Christian was led to victory by Max Medrano and Isaiah Wong. Medrano had 15 digs and two assists, while Wong had 15 assists. Medrano is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Calabasas has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. With the victory, Oaks Christian broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-14.

Calabasas and Oaks Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Calabasas (ranked 498th) will meet Thousand Oaks (ranked 162nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Oaks Christian will challenge Westlake at 6:30 p.m. on Friday down 308 places (504 vs. 196).
