Basketball Recap: MAURICE FULTCHER's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Denver East over George Washington

Denver East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-62 heartbreaker at the hands of the George Washington Patriots. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (55), the Angels still had to take the loss.

Several Angels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was MAURICE FULTCHER, who went 7 for 11 en route to 17 points along with six boards and four steals. FULTCHER is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. JAMES MURRAY was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead George Washington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Dotson, who went 5 for 7 en route to 16 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Trimm, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Denver East's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for George Washington, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.

Denver East will venture away from home to take on Vista PEAK Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Denver East's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups. As for George Washington, they will be playing at home against Northfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. George Washington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.1 points per game this season.
