Basketball Recap: Lewis Cass Comes Up Short

Lewis Cass was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Tipton Blue Devils at home by a 54-35 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Kings of the 67-39 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Lewis Cass still got an impressive performance from Owen Cotner-Graves, who posted seven points. That's the most points Cotner-Graves has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolten Young, who had six points.

Tipton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Grady Carpenter out in front who shot 60% from the field on his way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Carpenter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sam Quigley, who scored 12 points and seven boards.

Lewis Cass' defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Tipton, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Lewis Cass didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-38 win against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 28th. As for Tipton, they will face off against Taylor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tipton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
