Volleyball Game Preview: North Platte Panthers vs. Mid-Buchanan Dragons

North Platte is 0-10 against Mid-Buchanan since October of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will challenge the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

North Platte lost 3-0 to East Buchanan on Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-5, 25-9.

Meanwhile, Mid-Buchanan entered their match against Lawson on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dragons fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 3-2.

The 3-2 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Mid-Buchanan lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, 15-13.

North Platte's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Mid-Buchanan, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 17-11-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: North Platte has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Mid-Buchanan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

North Platte might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Mid-Buchanan in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
