Football Game Preview: Denver City Mustangs vs. River Road Wildcats + How To Watch

The Denver City Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the River Road Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Denver City has three straight victories, River Road has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Denver City beat Lamesa 23-16.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 15 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Tony Briones, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, River Road played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Bushland 51-10. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.

The win got Denver City back to even at 5-5. As for River Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Denver City couldn't quite get it done against River Road when the teams last played back in November of 2021 as they fell 14-6. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
