Newton Local came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Covington, but Ramse Vanderhorst wouldn't allow it. The Buccs put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday thanks in part to Vanderhorst, who had 13 digs and one assist. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Covington was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-12, 25-14.

Despite the loss, Newton Local still got an impressive performance from Mya Denlinger, who had 12 digs and one assist.

Covington's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Newton Local, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Covington will challenge Jackson Center at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Newton Local, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Tri-Village on the 23rd.
