Baseball Recap: Live Oak Takes a Loss

Live Oak had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 9-10 to make it six. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winters Warriors. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 10-2 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Live Oak saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Tillotson, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

As for Winters, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On Winters' side, Boston Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Jones also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Warriors are 5-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

Live Oak didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-1 win against Corning on the 29th. As for Winters, they have also already played their next game, an 8-2 victory against Willows on the 29th.
