Softball Recap: Whale Branch Takes a Loss

Whale Branch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 32-12 to the Hampton County Hurricanes. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to the Hurricanes when the teams met back in March of 2017, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sylise Edwards and Kaliyah Jean Baptist stepped up to the plate in a big way. Edwards scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Jean Baptist scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Jean Baptist is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ivyanna Washington, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Whale Branch's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Hampton County, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

While Whale Branch had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
