Laurel was the 15-0 winner over California when they last played one another back in September of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Laurel Spartans took a 22-6 bruising from the California Trojans on Friday. The matchup marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Luca Santini threw for 139 yards on 13 of 33 attempts. Tyler Shearer was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards. On the ground, Kolton Carlson rushed for 67 yards.

It was another big night for Lee Qualk, who rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 53 receiving yards and a touchdown for California. Qualk's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards.
