Basketball Game Preview: St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors vs. Neuse Christian Academy Lions

The St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors will square off against the Neuse Christian Academy Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, St. Thomas More Academy turned things around against Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-21 victory over the Lion.

St. Thomas More Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adella Dehring led the charge by putting up 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Dehring is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Winnie Dehring was another key player, posting eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Neuse Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They breezed by Southside Christian to the tune of 42-14 back in December of 2024. That 28 point margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Neuse Christian Academy's win came from a few key players St. Thomas More Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Morgan Little, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Lindstrom, who had ten points and three steals.

Neuse Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

St. Thomas More Academy's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9. As for Neuse Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
