Softball Recap: New Richmond Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

New Richmond waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Catelyn Swanepoel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brier Blietz, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Strand, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

New Richmond pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Eau Claire Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

New Richmond will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Old Abes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
