Basketball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Legion Collegiate Academy

Legion Collegiate Academy extended their winning streak to nine games thanks to a huge performance from LaKiara Alexander. The Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers snuck past the Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue Warriors with a 58-53 victory on Sunday thanks in part to Alexander, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. Her morning made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Amelia Williams, who posted seven points in addition to seven assists and five boards. That's the most assists she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Legion Collegiate Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue, they moved to 14-4 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Legion Collegiate Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mountain View Prep at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Legion Collegiate Academy's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Mountain View Prep has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tournament Opponent on January 18th.
