Softball Game Preview: Pioneer Mustangs vs. Live Oak Acorns

The Pioneer Mustangs will square off against the Live Oak Acorns at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Lincoln hit Pioneer with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell 6-3 to the Lions. The Mustangs have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Gina Scripoch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Leilah Ortiz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, while Live Oak put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Prospect. The Acorns won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Acorns.

Live Oak pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Pioneer, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
