Football Recap: Hickory Red Tornadoes vs. Crest Chargers
Hickory had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 63-48 victory over the Crest Chargers on Friday. The Red Tornadoes' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
It was another big night for Brady Stober, who threw for 478 yards and six touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 32 yards. Jamien Little was Stober's top target, picking up 235 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Hickory didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Brett Rowland. Carter Toney was another major factor on D, making 22 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending a pass.
Despite the loss, Crest still got an impressive performance from Aiden Carson, who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Carson has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Hickory pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Crest, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-3 record.
Hickory wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 49-46 win against North Lincoln on the 6th. Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
