Recap: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Interlake Saints
The Mercer Island Islanders came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 75-27 win over Interlake at home. That looming 75-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mercer Island yet this season.
Caitlin Monahan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 7-for-13 from downtown and almost dropping a triple-double on 42 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elianna Weiss, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Interlake still got an impressive performance from Cammy Roed, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Interlake struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mercer Island racked up 20 assists.
Mercer Island is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Interlake, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Juanita the next time they take the court. Interlake will head out to face Juanita at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Mercer Island will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
