Softball Recap: Freeport Pretzels vs. Hononegah Indians        
        
		
            Freeport extended their losing streak  to five  on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-14 in the process. They took  a  12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hononegah Indians. If the Pretzels were looking for revenge after losing  13-1 to the Indians when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
 Diem Beach was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more,  she gave up only zero  earned runs, the fewest she's  had since back in March. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-4 with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
 In other batting news,  Madelyn Barr made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went a perfect 1-for-1 with one  home run.  Quinn Krzeminiski was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with two  runs.
As for Hononegah, their win was  their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 13-1. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
 On Hononegah's side,  the team  relied heavily on  Irelyn O'Brian, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with three  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  doubles. Those  two  doubles gave  O'Brian a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Megan Kelly, who  went 3-for-4 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 Freeport wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  matchup,  a  17-14  loss against Belvidere on the 30th. As for Hononegah, they have also already played their next game,  an  11-0  win against Rockford Auburn on the 30th.
