Basketball Recap: Dhruv Iyer Key Part of Team Effort in Blazers Win

The Bethel Academy Blazers beat the Portsmouth Christian Patriots 89-81 on Saturday.

Bethel Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dhruv Iyer, who made all 8 shots he took racking up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Toatley, who made all 5 shots he took for 15 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Portsmouth Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trinity Wright, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Makhi Cofield, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten assists.

Bethel Academy's record now sits at 2-0.

Bethel Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 98-93 loss against Phelps on the 16th. As for Portsmouth Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-51 win against Hampton Roads Academy on the 21st.
