Softball Recap: South Dade Falls Short of Palmetto in the Playoffs

South Dade and Palmetto squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but South Dade had to settle for second. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 18-7. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 25-8 defeat two weeks ago.

K. DeBenito was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. R. Eichler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

South Dade has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Palmetto, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season.

South Dade does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palmetto, they will challenge Coral Reef at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Barracudas' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
