Ambrose V and William M did most of the damage at the plate: V went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while M got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave V a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stoney W, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ignacio kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Nucla's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Veta.
Paxtin Caruso made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Nucla is 5-1 when Caruso posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Holten McCluer, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Nucla's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Ignacio, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ignacio has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488.
