Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Carver High School of Engineering & Science
Two dominant guards in Darrius Gaeta and Fareed Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Northeast Vikings will head out on the road to face off against Carver High School of Engineering & Science at 3:15 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Northeast's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.
Northeast can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Great Oaks 72-23 at home. With Northeast ahead 42-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Carver High School of Engineering & Science beat Paul Robeson 60-48 on Thursday. Given Carver High School of Engineering & Science's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Paul Robeson is ranked 521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Brown was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Matthew Mcfield was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Northeast pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.1 points per game. As for Carver High School of Engineering & Science, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.
Northeast came out on top in a nail-biter against Carver High School of Engineering & Science in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, sneaking past 42-40. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Carver High School of Engineering & Science's Nile Mosby, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Northeast to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
