Basketball Recap: M.L. King Comes Up Short

After soaring to 65 points the game before, M.L. King was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 93-27 loss at the hands of the Jackson Jaguars. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-15.

When it comes to explaining why M.L. King lost, don't look at Tre? Smith. Despite the final result, he posted six points. That's the most points Smith has posted since back in November of 2024.

Even though they lost, M.L. King smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

M.L. King moved to 6-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Jackson, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. M.L. King will take on Creekside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson, they will challenge Drew at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
