Basketball Game Preview: Samuell Spartans vs. North Mesquite Stallions

The Samuell Spartans will square off against the North Mesquite Stallions at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Samuell has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 20.

Last Friday, Samuell lost to Seagoville on the road by a 66-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1295th, while the Dragons are ranked 371st).

Meanwhile, North Mesquite didn't have too much trouble with Wilson on Friday as they won 61-44.

Samuell better keep an eye on Christian Brooks. He was instrumental in North Mesquite's win, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marquel Mouton, who posted nine points.

North Mesquite is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points per game. As for Samuell, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-24.

Samuell was taken down by North Mesquite 61-22 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Samuell was down 33-8.
