Monrovia took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Beech Grove, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Hornets 9-8 on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Harlow Toole tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025.

On the hitting side, Monrovia let Brylee Stwalley and Camryn Wolfe run wild. Stwalley went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Wolfe got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most doubles Stwalley has posted over her last nine contests. Zoe Jones also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Monrovia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beech Grove only managed eight.

Monrovia's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Beech Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monrovia will venture away from home to challenge South Putnam at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Beech Grove, they are taking a road trip to take on Southport at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
