Baseball Recap: Bel Air Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Da Vinci, Bel Air was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Burges Mustangs with a sharp 13-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Highlanders needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Alex Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed over his last four games. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Chavez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Julian Ponce was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The win snapped Bel Air's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-6-1 record. As for Burges, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-2.

Bel Air didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 22-10 loss against Hanks on the 11th. Burges will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Santa Teresa at 6:00 p.m. on March 19th. Burges has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
