Baseball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens lost to Marathon back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bluejays came up short against the Red Raiders, falling 13-4. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Marathon, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Athens and Marathon should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Bluejays will face off against Auburndale at 4:45 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (67 vs. 284). Meanwhile, Marathon (ranked 42nd) will meet Iola-Scandinavia (ranked 142nd) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Raiders 3.3, the Thunderbirds 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
