Baseball Game Preview: Bellefonte Raiders vs. Indiana Little Indians

The Bellefonte Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Indiana Little Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bellefonte comes in on five and Indiana on nine.

Bellefonte is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Obama Academy of International Studies a 15-0 shutout. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Peyton Vancas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Bellefonte let Oliver Thornburg and Evan Mattern run wild. Thornburg went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Mattern got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Capparelle, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Bellefonte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Indiana sidestepped Elizabeth Forward for a 4-2 victory.

Indiana's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bellefonte, their record is now 13-8.

Bellefonte came up short against Indiana in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
