Basketball Recap: Richland Takes a Loss

If Richland was feeling good fresh off their 66-46 takedown of Pasco on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Richland Bombers were beaten by the Chiawana Riverhawks 74-23 on Saturday. The contest marked the Bombers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Malia Ruud was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds for Chiawana. Ruud's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaia Foster, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 17 points and seven boards.

Richland's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-11. As for Chiawana, the win was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.

The future could be bright for both Richland and Chiawana: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Richland will try to hand Hanford their seventh-straight loss when the two meet at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Chiawana will look to extend Pasco's four-game losing streak when the meet at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
