Forreston fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lena-Winslow on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7. The Cardinals' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Alec Schoonhoven put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Carson Akins was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brendan Greenfield, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Forreston's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-3. As for Lena-Winslow, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-3-1.

While Forreston had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
