Baseball Game Preview: Cortez Colts vs. Tempe Buffaloes

The Cortez Colts are taking a road trip to face off against the Tempe Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Cortez came up short against Washington and fell 7-4. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aeryk Snyder was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Shepard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Tempe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Dysart, falling 20-4. One positive for the Buffaloes, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Cortez's loss dropped their record down to 2-9-1. As for Tempe, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Cortez's way against Tempe when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Cortez made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cortez since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
