Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends West's Winning Streak

After a string of ten wins, West's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Hunter Wolverines. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since September 2nd.

West took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-19, 26-24.

Angelys Tapusoa paced West's offense, picking up six kills. Tapusoa got some help from Marisia Hansen and her 11 assists. Henilieta Vaenuku controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

West's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 18-5. As for Hunter, they pushed their record up to 15-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. West is set to face off against their familiar foe Cyprus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hunter will take on rival Granger at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
