Basketball Recap: Northwestern Takes a Loss

Northwestern lost against Indian Land back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Northwestern Trojans were dealt an 83-52 loss at the hands of the Indian Land Warriors. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-18.

Despite the defeat, Northwestern saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grant Pursley went 12 of 24 to rack up 26 points. Those 26 points gave Pursley a new career-high. Jayshawn Reid was another key player, putting up six points.

Michael Jones was his usual excellent self, going 10 for 16 en route to 27 points and three steals for Indian Land. Jones' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 23 points. Jayden Ellison also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Northwestern and nudges their season record down to 6-12. As for Indian Land, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Northwestern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-40 loss against Clover on the 31st. As for Indian Land, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 75-53 victory against Nation Ford on the 31st.
