Softball Recap: Westerly Comes Up Short

Westerly dropped to 11-7-1 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Pilgrim Patriots by a score of 10-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this game were averaging 3.32 runs allowed.

As for Pilgrim, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-11 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 27, 2025.

For Pilgrim's part, Skylar Hawes and Natalie Fratus did most of the damage at the plate: Hawes fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Fratus went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Fratus a new career-high. Addison Dempsey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
