Baseball Recap: Rowlett Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Rowlett barely beat Lakeview Centennial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Patriots a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Landon Bertucci, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Lakeview Centennial off the board. Bertucci has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Naphtali Orozco was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was River Kirkhuff, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Rowlett has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Lakeview Centennial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Rowlett will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lakeview Centennial: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
