Basketball Game Preview: Dunnellon Tigers vs. Bishop Moore Hornets

Two dominant guards in Tonyah Boggs and Jaiden Peterson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Dunnellon Tigers will challenge the Bishop Moore Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Dunnellon heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Saturday. They took a 45-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastside.

Despite the loss, Dunnellon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Boggs went 9 of 20 to rack up 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Boggs has posted since back in December of 2024. Joseleen Malave was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Bishop Moore waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 68-27.

Dunnellon better focus on containing Alex Wolsonovich and Peterson as the pair were huge in Bishop Moore's win. Wolsonovich went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points and three steals, while Peterson went 6 of 10 on her way to 14 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Wolsonovich is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Mcbride, who earned 12 points.

Bishop Moore was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bishop Moore's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Dunnellon, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Dunnellon has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bishop Moore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.7 boards.
