Baseball Game Preview: Mynderse Academy Blue Devils vs. Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders

The Mynderse Academy Blue Devils will head out to take on the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mynderse Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Mynderse Academy hadn't beaten Penn Yan Academy on the road since May 19, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-2 win. While the Blue Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Palmyra-Macedon was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Newark 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Raiders have posted since May 8, 2024.

Ryan Caffyn was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Palmyra-Macedon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mynderse Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Mynderse Academy suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Palmyra-Macedon when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
