Jackson has gone 8-2 against Escambia County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Jackson Aggies will venture away from home to face off against the Escambia County Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Jackson took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 62-38 margin over McIntosh. Given the Aggies' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Demons are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joseph Taylor out in front who posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeyun Chapman, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven blocks and six boards.
Jackson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Escambia County earned a 64-53 victory over W.S. Neal on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Escambia County's win came from a few key players Jackson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaniguel Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cleo Bolar, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.
Jackson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Escambia County, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Jackson and Escambia County are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Jackson hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.3 points per game. However, it's not like Escambia County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 59.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
