Baseball Game Preview: Parker Thundering Herd vs. Mountain Brook Spartans

Parker is 0-4 against Mountain Brook since March of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Parker Thundering Herd will host the Mountain Brook Spartans at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Mountain Brook will be up against a hot Parker team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Parker blew past Wenonah 16-3 on Monday.

Conellrious Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Parker is 6-3 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Scott was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Parker got a massive performance out of Ashton Finley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Adrian Brown was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Parker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain Brook, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Woodlawn a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Mountain Brook is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Parker's win bumped their record up to 10-8.
