Recap: Neptune Scarlet Fliers vs. Ranney

The Neptune Scarlet Fliers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a tough blow on Wednesday as they fell 56-42 to Ranney. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Neptune in their matchups with Ranney: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Scarlet Fliers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lana Ellington, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Christa Ramos, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Neptune's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Ranney, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neptune won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lacey Township at 4:00 p.m. on January 25th. Lacey Township will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Neptune is ranked 90th). As for Ranney, they will be playing in front of their home fans against The Pingry School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
