Basketball Recap: Hughson Falls Despite Big Games from Karam Kang and Jackson Gehrke

Hughson lost against Ripon back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Hughson Huskies took a hard 60-46 fall against the Ripon Indians. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Hughson had strong showings from Jackson Gehrke, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Karam Kang, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Urquidez, who had eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ripon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Lefebvre, who went 9 of 12 on his way to 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Lefebvre a new career-high in points. Marcus Madoski was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.

Hughson's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Ripon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.

When Hughson and Ripon next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hughson will try to stop Ripon Christian's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hughson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. Similarly, Ripon will try to stop River Islands' three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
