Softball Game Preview: Cheyenne Desert Shields vs. Del Sol Dragons

The Cheyenne Desert Shields will head out on the road to face off against the Del Sol Dragons at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Cheyenne beats Del Sol with 19 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Desert Shields put the hurt on Democracy Prep Agassi Campus with a sharp 19-9 win on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Desert Shields.

Meanwhile, Del Sol entered their tilt with Pinecrest Academy Cadence on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Cougars.

Del Sol's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Cheyenne, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Cheyenne might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from Del Sol in their previous meeting on April 8th. Can the Desert Shields avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
